Superintendent Rocky Hanna announces $10.4 million plan to provide devices to every student

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Leon County Schools Superintendent Rocky Hanna said that he would present a $10.5 million proposal to put remote-learning devices into the hands of every student in the district.

Monday, Hanna shared a video on social media explaining his plan.

He said the he would soon present his $10.5 million proposal to the Leon County School Board. That plan would put devices in all 32,000 of the district's students via an annual investment of $2.6 million for the next four years.

Hanna said students would then be able to carry those devices with them to and from school to ensure every student has access to technology while at 55彩票.

His goal is to make sure that every student can get a quality education no matter where they area.

"We've talked about doing it for many years," Hanna said. "If anything positive has come out of this crisis in this situation, it's forced our hand. We should've done this years ago. But now is the time, now is the chance to make this investment for the long term."
