TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL) — After Wednesday's deadly stabbing and fatal officer involved shooting and a shooting on Keith Street on Friday, people in the Bond community are asking for change.

The Bridging the Gap in our Communities Link Ups main goal is to uplift and support the community.

The nonprofit was formed by people who grew up in the area and wanted to do more to support their neighbors.

The group hosts food drives, after school programs, even community conversations to see what things are negatively impacted these communities.

Now, they're looking at ways to end violence after the events of the last week.

Link Up CEO Darian Davis says that issues like mental health, poverty, and a lack of resources in the community are important to creating change.

"We know what's really at the root of that," said Davis. "That's what we try to attack. The victim is everybody in that situation. It's not the person that just got shot or did the shooting. It's everybody in the community. When stuff like that is going on, you have kids that got to witness it."

Davis says many children in this community have witnessed shootings and violence. Their goal is help them overcome those tragic sights.

The group will hold a vigil on Friday for Natosha McDade, who was known to people as Tony.

McDade was shot and killed during an officer involved shooting earlier this week.
